Iranian missile attacks targeting US bases in UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain spark a major security crisis across the Persian Gulf region.
DUBAI – Tensions across the Persian Gulf have intensified following reports of missile launches, explosions and heightened military activity near several facilities hosting U.S. forces, prompting authorities in multiple countries to issue emergency instructions to residents. According to reports circulating from regional officials and international media, Iranian ballistic missiles were directed toward military facilities in the Gulf, including locations associated with U.S. forces in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain. The reports emerged amid an already dangerous confrontation between Iran and the United States, raising concerns that the conflict could expand across the region.
In the United Arab Emirates, reports of a powerful explosion in the Abu Dhabi area triggered heightened security concerns. The Al Dhafra Air Base, which hosts U.S. military personnel, was reportedly among the facilities targeted. Authorities also imposed restrictions on air travel, reflecting concerns about the safety of civilian aircraft as regional military activity increased.
Bahrain also reported heightened security activity. Smoke and explosions were reported around the Al Jufair area, where the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet maintains a major regional presence. The development immediately drew attention because the facility plays a central role in American naval operations throughout the Gulf and surrounding waters.
